At NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, space shuttle Endeavour is being readied for its 23rd spaceflight: the STS-127 mission to the International Space Station. The launch countdown began June 10 at 9 a.m. EDT, and prelaunch activities proceeded smoothly throughout the week. Liftoff remains scheduled for June 13 at 7:17 a.m.
The 16-day mission will feature five spacewalks as the crews of Endeavour and the International Space Station work to install the Kibo Japanese Experiment Module Exposed Facility and Experiment Logistics Module Exposed Section on the orbiting outpost.
