DO UFOs exist?

That’s the question Busselton resident Michael Murphy asked himself after he captured a suspicious object in a photo at 6.29pm on Monday last week.

He was taking a few snaps of the sky and the pergola he is building in the backyard in order to email them to his mother in Perth, and didn’t spot anything until his mother emailed back asking what the bright object in the picture was?

On a closer look, Michael thought it looked like a UFO, as it had a tail, and sent the picture to a researcher at UFO Research Queensland. The researcher told him it looked like an extraterrestrial sighting photographed over Adelaide six years ago, and a sightings officer would investigate it further.

It could of course also have been the international space station which, was reported on the news, would be moving over Dunsborough and Busselton on Monday last week and was observed by a Mail journalist at 6.55pm.

But who knows?

Michael and his children Jade and Reece think it would be sad to think we were the only beings in existence.

“It would be nice to think it was something,” Michael said. “Maybe if the jetty had been finished it would have landed,” he added with a smile.
