Come hear Dennis Wingo of the Lunar Orbiter Image Recovery Project (LOIRP) discuss their use of Mac OS X technology to save our Space Race heritage. LOIRP is retrieving, digitizing and publishing high-resolution pictures of the Moon captured by five NASA space probes ahead of the Apollo 11 moon landings in 1969. These tapes - rescued from destruction by a determined NASA archivist - represent some of the highest-resolution pictures ever taken of the Moon's surface and are a priceless piece of history.
