ISS Expedition 22 Crew Profiles

Expedition 22 begins with the Soyuz TMA-15 undocking in November 2009. Three new crew members will arrive shortly thereafter on Soyuz TMA-17.

Soyuz TMA-16


Crew: Jeff Williams, Maxim Suraev Launch: Sept. 30, 2009 Docking: Oct. 2, 2009 Landing: March 18, 2010

Soyuz TMA-17


Crew: Oleg Kotov, Soichi Noguchi, T.J. Creamer
Launch: Dec. 7, 2009 Docking: Dec. 9, 2009 Landing: May 2010

Commander Jeffrey N. Williams

Astronaut Jeffrey Williams will serve as a flight engineer for Expedition 21 and commander of Expedition 22. He previously resided on the space station for six months in 2006 as a member of the Expedition 13 crew.

Flight Engineer Maxim Suraev

Cosmonaut Maxim Suraev will serve as a flight engineer for Expeditions 21 and 22. He was selected as a test-cosmonaut candidate of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center Cosmonaut Office in December 1997.

Flight Engineer Oleg Kotov

Cosmonaut Oleg Kotov will serve as an Expedition 22 flight engineer and Expedition 23 commander. In 2007 Kotov served a six-month tour of duty aboard the International Space Station as an Expedition 15 flight engineer.

Flight Engineer Soichi Noguchi

Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Soichi Noguchi will fly to the station aboard the Soyuz TMA-17 spacecraft to serve as a flight engineer for Expeditions 22 and 23. Previously, he flew on STS-114 Discovery in 2005 and participated in three spacewalks.

Flight Engineer Timothy J. (T.J.) Creamer

NASA astronaut T.J. Creamer will fly to the International Space Station aboard the Soyuz TMA-17 spacecraft to serve as a flight engineer for Expeditions 22 and 23. This is his first spaceflight.
