ATK Emerges as a Major Aerospace Composites Supplier
ATK to Highlight its Affordable ISR Solutions to an International Audience
The Paris Air Show provides ATK an opportunity to highlight its growing capabilities in several business areas, including commercial and military aerospace structures manufacturing. ATK has received significant contracts in the last year to provide composite components for the Airbus A350, and composite aft fan cases for the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engine. These contracts build on ATK's decades of experience in large-scale composite manufacturing and expand ATK's role as a leading supplier of commercial aircraft composite structures and engine components.
ATK will also feature the newest addition to the U.S. missile inventory, the Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM). Developed cooperatively by ATK, the U.S. Navy, and the Italian Air Force, AARGM has performed very well in testing and was recently approved for initial production by the U.S. Department of Defense. The missile is expected to enter service in 2010 as the military's newest multi-role tactical missile.
ATK will also highlight its long history space exploration, a role that continues today as the prime contractor for NASA on the first stage of the Ares I launch vehicle. Finally, ATK will feature its Operationally Responsive Satellite (ORS) capabilities, including the work it is doing in support of the first U.S. Air Force ORS satellite, designated ORS Sat-1, which is scheduled for launch in 2010. ATK provided the spacecraft bus system, based on the company's Responsive Space Modular Bus (RSMB) designed to meet the needs of the ORS office.
